Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition
The Last City
Los Angeles, held by the Anarchs against all enemies, now in need of new leaders. Is there a better way to do this?
Session 0: too early to say.
Matt: MacNeil get the final death?
Nobody much canon around... or are they
J: Claudia and Tanith just dancing at goth clubs?
Me: "I consider it my duty to the Kindred of the city that there's a decent goth night at least every other week." One of the NPCs
1: Nightfall
11/5
September, and LA's vampires have time to do more than hunt again after the short nights of summer. The guiding council of the Free States want to investigate San Diego having gone dark. The Rack clubs are in a currently good-natured feud looking for ways to lure in students as the academic year starts. There are rumours of agents for the Camarilla - or someone else - in the city.
And someone's preying on street kids, in a way that will leave someone dead soon if nobody stops them.
Martin, Ravnos, community activist
Rake, Caitiff, tagger
St. Clair, Brujah, former detective
Snow, Caitiff, runaway
Willa, Toreador, history student
2: Dead End
18.5
Snow goes to Martin and Willa for help. Martin brings in Rake and, though a common contact, St. Clair.
They find a gang hunting in the streets, and fight them off. One of them says one of the council gave them the right...
3: Lies
25/5
The council member blamed denies the gang's claim he gave them hunting rights.
Snow and her allies approach other street Kindred to help run the gang off. It gets tense, but they back off.
Martin takes a shot at making the area his protectorate.
And news comes back from San Diego. The Baron and her coterie are missing.
4: You're Not Alone
1/6
Plans to send more Kindred to San Diego to try and find out what happened. Which means some of LA's protectors will be absent. That could be someone's plan. Either way, some of the others have to step up. Martin asks for help around Hollywood.
5: The Hills
8/6
Unknown vampires in Hollywood. Spies for the Camarilla, or something else? Newly arrived and working with a local gang, they already have a base in the hills.
St. Clair and Rake follow them on a raid. Targeting a private blood donor centre.
6: Red Lines
15/6
The donor centre is a front for whole blood suppliers for Kindred. Skeevy but better than stealing from regular blood banks, at least. And a target for someone wanting to cause trouble.
Cue a fight with the Camarilla agents.
7: We Can Be Better
22/6
Clashing with the coterie holding another domain, who use ghouls to run rackets and want to expand during the turmoil. Snow and Martin rally others against them.
8: Strike
29/6
A move on the Camarilla agents at the edge of the city. Some of the council want to wait for news from San Diego, and allies of the racket coterie won't help, but this is the best lead yet, and others they've helped support them.
9: Take Them Out
6/7
The Anarchs have the numbers for Kindred and mortal support, but the Camarilla saboteurs have loyal and well equipped gunmen.
St. Clair hurts one of the vampires enough that he and his ghouls flee, forcing a retreat.
But they're not all here.
10: Footprints
13/7Snow's mother finds her. She's left her father and says she can come home. And part of her wants to even though she knows she can't.
Martin sees that one of the street kids targeted by a Kindred gang is in danger again. Did the gang join the Tower? He calls on Rake to investigate.
11: What We Fight For
20/7
Fighting off the gang.
And Snow learns that she could become human again. If she finds and kills her sire.
12: Wild Nights
27/7
Fancy Party Episode, the weekend before Halloween. Meeting some more seemingly friendly Kindred.
Snow confesses what she knows to Martin and Willa. They promise to help, whatever she decides.
13: The View From Above
3/8
Negotiating with one of the older and more insular baronies, confirming they haven't harboured any of the Tower's turncoats.
14: The Beacon
10/8
Kindred refugees from another city. Arguments over whether the city can take more, but it would be a betrayal to turn them away. Some agree to help watch for Camarilla agents, others with the investigation into San Diego. And one confirms what Snow learned about the way to live again.
15: Back On The Rack
17/8
Out clubbing, and seeing the new arrivals are settling in. Martin flirts with one of them. A staredown with the racket coterie, because there's never a quiet night.
16: Marked
24/8
Rake finds tags in graffiti being used for coded warnings in a way he doesn't recognize.
Doesn't seem like the Camarilla. A rival anarch faction? A cult?
17: Cold
31/8
Independents looking to take power in one of the districts of the city, working with the Camarilla spies.
"What's the point of freedom if you can't take what you want?"
Martin: "The point is to be better than that."
This will end in fire.
18: Cities In Dust
7/9
Anarchs and Camarilla both trying to find what happened in San Diego.
And independents trying to seize LA. Including Snow's grandsire. She couldn't bring herself to kill her sire. Can she do this?
And we end on that question...
