Spooky Cowboys

Am I thinking of doing a light spooky cowboy WoD game because of the light spooky cowboy band I just heard for the first time?

Bridge City Sinners

... Maybe.

Or, Mage session where Didi and Michael have to form a band to defeat the Crossroads Devil.

200 posts in the new blog

And by the power of Photoshop, another present!

So you know that girl
She's new in town
But you better be careful
She'll put you down
She's an evil chick
Said she's a witch

This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches

Well, my feet ache anyway. :D

Gig guide: The Vampire Lestat, Death Valley

Like a lot of people, I was really looking forward to The Vampire Lestat's first live appearance, and I have to say I was severely disappointed.

The crowd was a good one (and while star-spotting I think I saw the lead from Type O Negative there, as well as Paul McGann!) although with all the walking around I missed the support band completely. I don't know who they even were.

But anyway, it started great with the man (ahem, "vampire") himself flying down from the rafters (nice bit of wireflying) and launching into Slept So Long, but then after like forty seconds of the second song, a bunch of other "vampires" flew up to the stage and there was a big wire-fu stunt scene. Cleverly done, granted - unseen wires, probably some back projection, and having the band run off in a panic was a clever touch - but then some half-naked chick bursts out of the stage and pulls Lestat to her and they fly off.

And no matter how much we clapped, they wouldn't play an encore.

My advice: wait for the Unplugged video.

The Vampire Lestat Live

Better show than last time in Death Valley when he only got through two songs before he flew off to avoid a stage invasion.

(Reviving this gig review from Queen Of The Damned)

J: They were a good two songs though
Me: Yeah, but getting our parking validated after, yeesh
Reuel: You got your parking validated? #NotARealFan
Me: 8O

Happy holidays if applicable, a good and safe day to all.

At mum's. Chicken, roast potatoes, soup, chocolate pudding and some Jaffa Cakes eaten, Fantastic Four DVD confirmed to work, book of winter ghost stories confirmed to have words in, charming Aardman animated special and charmless Amazon Santa movie watched, meeting people I didn't see before to exchange gifts organised for next week. And so to bed.

Florence + The Machine - Everybody Scream

House Carna recruitment video

Next time we play Mage I will have Didi pop out from behind Cara and make funny faces like that as she marches confidently towards an opponent.

Fear Itself

Fear Itself
A Gumshoe system modern horror RPG.

Gumshoe characters always get the core clues and have lots of ways to get more information. But not much in general skills...

Session zero: Character Creation.

More to follow hopefully.

Backrooms IRL

The photo dates back a few years but went viral today for its jarring SCP Storage bad vibe.

I imagine the photo sounding like the thrumming sound at the start of "If I Had A Heart" by Fever Ray.

Month Of Darkness 2024

Very OC-ish this year.

1. Original Character (OC)
Tanith was a nice girl, really. Not best suited to damnation.

EVE MMO character design
Meant for the WOD MMO

The Crow (2024)

The Crow (2024) was alright. Adequate.

Not as close to the comic as the original film, with a couple of its elements the original didn't use but not much. Takes a long time to get you invested in the central love. Solves the problem of an unstoppable hero by not getting there for over an hour. Nothingy villains. Mostly good but not new soundtrack. Would have been better not calling them Eric and Shelly.

On a purely superficial level, Brandon Lee was achingly beautiful and Bill SkarsgÄrd isn't.

Then again there hasn't been a really good story in the comics since the original either.
